Vladimir P. Kozin is a Leading Expert of the Center of Military-Political Studies, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), Russian MFA and Professor at the Russian Academy of Military Sciences.
A Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of the Natural Sciences, a Member of the Scientific Council at the Russian National Research Institute for Global Security, a Member of the Experts’ Group of the Foreign Relations Committee at the Russian Senate, he is also a Member of a new All-Russian Analytical Association, while from 1972 to 2012 he has been a staff Member at the Soviet and Russian Foreign Ministries.
He has served as the Deputy Director, at the Information and Press Department and the Head of the Information and Analytical Division (2010 – 2012), and as the Head of Analytical and Prognosis Desk at the Department on General Asian issues (2008 – 2010). He was also member of the Expert Team of the Interagency Working Group on the Ballistic Missile Defense talks with NATO, Russian Presidential Administration (2011 – 2013). From 2012 to 2017 he was the Head of Group of Advisers to the Director, Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS).
He has graduated from Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Soviet Foreign Ministry (1972) and has postgraduate studies by the Diplomatic Academy of the Soviet Foreign Ministry (1981) and the Royal College of Defense Studies based in London (1995). He is a holder of a Ph.D. degree, the Academic rank of a “Senior Researcher”, a “Global Senior Fellow” of the National University of Sciences and Technology at Islamabad, Pakistan, a State Counselor of the Russian Federation, while he has been awarded with the title of “Honorary Staff Member of the Russian Foreign Ministry”.
Dr. Kozin has published 10 monographs plus more than 450 articles and book chapters on international security, arms control and disarmament.
